I did really like this activity, I ‘m not super comfortable with telling people what kind of a person I am because of how they may judge me. I think adding simple pictures and memes such as like I did really helps people really understand who I am. It was also fun to with simply dragging and dropping whatever came into my head. Resulting in people who look at my collage get a sense of me and who I am, maybe not to the full extent but it’s better than nothing. I also think it was a great activity, there wasn’t much thinking and I loved that part, also self expression is super important like I’ve mention. Not just to other individuals but yourselves.

Now, Then, Present
by Otish Das
After reading “How Afrofuturism Can Help the World Mend” by C. Brandon Ogbunu, it’s easy to put the dominance of Afrofuturism had a deep impact because of the message the movement had. It had an overall aspect of global healing thus in order to help with the future of humanity. It takes on issues such as social, political, and environmental. With shifting the attention to Du Bois the implement of his storytelling reflects on the racism that is very much relevant in today’s society. The story telling aspect does leave an impact that the world is yet to change, setting in an apocalyptic environment is supposed to be a sign of a call to action. Especially in an setting of New York which as everyone knows has a large demographic. Thus trying to persuade the reader in taking action in of hopes shaping a better future.

Brain’s Are Basically Computer Chips
The article does a good job explaining how the internet is rewiring our brains. I do find myself being in the same situation where I have little to no attention span anymore then I used to. Finding myself to rely on the internet and making it be a factor in my life, both personally and academically. There hasn’t been a point in my life where I didn’t go “I think I should Google it.” And Carr isn’t wrong about the long term impact, everyone will only have the mental capacity to only rely on the internet because they’re basically programmed to do it. It is scary to think how much of an impact the internet has on everyone and it’s only going to grow. No more having the energy to go to a library to find a word when you can simply do that on your phone, which would always be another factor to the low attention span because why work so hard for something where you can simply do it with a tap on the phone.
Level Up In Literacy
In James Paul Gee’s “What Video Games Have to Teach Us About Learning & Literacy” he explains how video games are somewhat a play on how people’s visual life could be. In other words, Gee elaborates a lot about how video games are designed for players to learn the controls throughout the game and then end up knowing how to beat it or complete it. As if learning the controls and then end up mastering the entire game without even realizing as if it was second nature. In Gee’s perspective, life is an exaggeration on human lives. On the other hand, humans’ day to day lives feel like we’re always learning. We have this fixation image on, getting a good job, getting good pay, getting a family, and retiring. Humans have a start to finish with obvious bumps in the roads. Humans are designed to fail and have drawbacks, humans don’t have a second try. Whereas in a video game, you can constantly fail and always press the restart button. We don’t have that, that’s why video games are so influential. It somewhat brings awareness to an individual. In a video game anyone can see a shiny red threat indicating something cautions is in their vicinity and implying it into literacy with reactions and ideas being considered when reading. It kind of just grows within us without even knowing, similar to a game, we learn basic controls and end up getting to the highest level over time, as if it was second nature to us.
